Role Purpose:

Assist in the development and production of Public Art projects focusing on the fabrication and installation phases in liaison with internal and external stakeholders, art production contractors, artists’ studios, fabrication studios and experts. Ensure that all art productions of the Abu Dhabi Public Art are planned and delivered as per defined scope, timeline, budget and standards.

 

Key Responsibilites:

Project Planning & Development

  • Assist and lead the end-to-end production of public art projects, from early conceptualization to final installation, maintenance, and de-installation.
  • Collaborate with artists and creative professionals to translate artistic visions into feasible, site-specific public art proposals and production plans.
  • Produce 3D renderings, drawings and any other technical drawings.
  • Conduct site assessments and visits to evaluate readiness, and propose alternative sites when necessary.
  • Review project proposals, technical specifications, and installation requirements to ensure feasibility and alignment with project goals and provide cost estimations for site preparation and production.
  • Review all documents submitted by art production suppliers, artists/galleries/studios and assist all stakeholders during the development phase.

Project Management

  • Develop and manage comprehensive project schedules, budgets, and procurement plans in line with set organizational and project standards.
  • Draft SOW for Art Production Suppliers.
  • Assist in preparing commission legal contracts
  • Provide technical guidance and logistical support for fabrication, transport, and installation of public artworks.
  • Oversee on-site installations, ensuring adherence to approved designs, timelines, and safety protocols.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure timely delivery within scope, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, resolving issues that may arise during production or installation.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Relationships

  • Coordinate with internal teams in DCT, government entities, community stakeholders, and private sector partners to secure approvals, permits, art installation, and site access.
  • Ensure all legal, safety, and regulatory requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle
  • Research and recommend suitable locations, fabricators, and production vendors in alignment with project needs and objectives.
  • Build effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in order to provide required support and contribute toward delivering successful public art projects.
  • Provide support and feedback to artists throughout the creative and design process.

Shared Activity  

  • Carry out any other duties and responsibilities related to the role at the request of the direct manager.
  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Demonstrate compliance to organisation’s values and ethics at all times to support the establishment of a value drive culture within the organization.
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.  
  • Take an active role in the EHS initiative.
  • Adhere to the DCT Occupational Safety and Health policy, regulations, and laws, and provide help to the Corporate EHS in executing the OSHMS.
  • Report any incidents, near misses, occupational illnesses, unsafe practices, and conditions immediately to the concerned person and participate in the investigation of OSH incidents, as required.
  • Wear the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when applicable.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s (Master’s preferred) in Museum Studies/museology, Works of art and preventive conservation, history of art (contemporary art and exhibition specialty) or any other degree within relevant industry.

 

Experience:

  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in museums or Museum Registration / Documentation / Collections Management /Logistic field.
  • Preferably, someone with demonstrated experience in monumental artwork /contemporary art registration and/or outdoor installation with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in application registration, documentation and collections management standards and methods.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in all logistic fields linked to collection management (international transportation, shipping, crate making)
  • Knowledge of customs control and regulations is preferable.
  • Knowledge of collections management databases, international recognized collections management standards, terminology control and collections storage management, Knowledge of various insurance companies at the international level.
  • KeEmu database experience is desirable.

 

Skills:

 

  • Language: Full professional English proficiency both in speaking and writing; Arabic desirable.
  • Skilled in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word and Excel) and Adobe.
  • Skilled in database administration and development (CMS – EMu, Adlib, TMS etc.).
  • Ability to guide and motivate juniors.
